LEADERSHIP
Sometimes men need a sounding board as they wrestle with career ideas and how they can be used in the “second half” of their life.  The Gathering stands ready to enable a man’s vision to become reality by furnishing sound advice, a network of relationships, and a work force of other men who want to participate in meaningful projects.  As we instill ministry vision in Christian men we are empowered as an organization to reach many more people for Christ.   We believe that our ability to connect businessmen to ministries that need their practical assistance is one of the aspects that sets The Gathering apart from other men's ministries.

Here are some of the many opportunities for ministry participation which exist within the Gathering:

This group of business people meets monthly for lunch where the needs of 13 Christ-centered ministries are presented. Business people get the opportunity to use their business expertise, creativity and ideas to help these ministries find ways to meet their needs. It's a pretty low stress group - no dues, no fundraising - just a coming together and sharing ideas with these ministries. In a little over 3 years, over 1,200 needs have been met through this group across Houston and beyond.

Do you like to hunt or fish? Do you have surplus that you would like to donate to a ministry? Then Hunters' Harvest is for you! We are an organization of hunters and fisherman that works to supply fish and game to organizations feeding the hungry. Go to www.huntersharvest.org to sign up for our e-newsletter and to see a listing of ministries that are happy to accept both processed and unprocessed fish and game.

Aiming to prepare inmates up to two years before their release to the outside world, volunteers in this program work with inmates in minimum to medium-security prisons, teaching them how to plan businesses and prepare for a competition before local executives. Upon release, ex-offenders are matched with mentors from the ranks of local business executives. For more information, visit their web site at

Event Hosts
Most men do not have an active vision of how they personally can participate in reaching others for Christ.  Each outreach event that is held by The Gathering offers Christian men a chance to participate as a table host by inviting one or more associates to hear a non-threatening talk about Christ.  At each event there are approximately 100 table hosts.  Since 1999 over 400 men have served in this capacity and have therefore had a chance to see friends and associates impacted by the Gospel message.  As a man sees his friends' lives change, he too will be encouraged, and his vision for his own ministry will progress.

Small Group Leaders
In order to meet men relationally, we must build follow-up to large events.  The small group is one of the mechanisms that The Gathering uses to do further a man’s knowledge of Jesus Christ and how one can apply the Christian faith to everyday life (see Discipleship).  The ministry is constantly looking for men who would like to be trained to lead a small group.

Mentors
Another way to impact men relationally is through one-on-one mentoring.  Mentors may formally disciple a man, or simply meet with him regularly to discuss life, career, and spiritual issues.  Mentors will also have an accountability program in which they work.
